Newham’s Detached Youth Work Team are based primarily in Stratford and the Green Street area providing youth work support to young people in their environment, and on their terms. We typically work on the street, in parks, street cages, pitches, shops, malls and cafes etc. The nature of our work means that we engage with and support some of Newham’s most vulnerable young people who may not be accessing any other services. Our offer works through universal, open-access street sessions where we are out and about in the community, through project work and also through targeted interventions and 1-2-1 mentoring with young people identified via the different parts of our offer.
We do not work on a referral basis, as we provide open access and universal youth work. However, if you are aware of a particular young person who may need our support at this time, in the Stratford and or Green Street area, please reach out to us via the contact information given on this Padlet. We strive to work in partnership with LBN and other services to ensure the best possible offer for young people in the areas in which we work. We register young people accordingly once we have developed trusted and meaningful relationships with them. Young people involved with detached team project work will always be registered.
If you’d like to know more information about the Detached Team and the work they are doing during within the borough as part of the wider YES offer, please contact the lead workers given below.
