Families First
Families First works with a variety of families where there is a child or young person with emotional, social and or behavioural difficulties. Some needs might include:
- School attendance, children at risk of exclusion or those who have already been excluded from school, including NEET young people
- Young People at risk of exploitation in the community - appropriate to EH threshold
- Young people with emotional well-being difficulties
- Family conflict
- Domestic abuse
- Parental mental ill-health
- Parental substance misuse
How does Families First work?
Families First offers a phasic / relational model; engagement and motivation, behavioural change, independence and relapse prevention.
FF can work with families up to a period of 12wks, however, this can be shorter depending on identified / negotiated areas of support required by the family.
How can I refer to Families First?
All referrals to Families First require a referral via Newham MASH who will seek informed parental consent for families to be supported by the team.
