If you are a Newham resident who is pregnant/expecting, or are a parent/carer with a child under 5, then you can register for free by clicking the 'Family Registration' link on the right-hand side of this page. Childminders who live in Newham, or look after a Newham child can also register to access our services for free by clicking on the 'Childminder Registration' link.
What we offer
Access to childcare (nurseries and childminders)
Information, advice and support in finding childcare, including free childcare for eligible two, three and four year olds.
Stay and play sessions (child development support)
Stay and play sessions aim to help parents understand how children learn and develop important skills through play and how you can use ideas and activities to support your child's development at home. You can also make local connections by meeting other parents/carers and their children.
All Children's Centres have Family Support Workers who can support families via early help to identify and address issues having a significant impact on the family (including issues such as domestic violence). We can also provide access to a range of programmes, workshops and sessions in each neighbourhood offering advice and guidance to help build parenting skills and confidence - whether you need help with your child's behaviour, healthy eating, or speech and language (we can also support families with English classes for those who are still learning!).
Volunteering and support into employment
If you're looking to get back into work then we can provide volunteering opportunities to help with Children's Centre sessions to build skills and confidence. We will also work with our partners such as Workplace to support families to build skills/experience and move towards employment.
Health and well-being support
Your local Health Visitors work closely with Children's Centres to ensure that you can access advice and support on a range of health issues through pregnancy into the first years of your child's life. This includes advice and support on breastfeeding, weaning, healthy eating, sleep routines and a whole range of other health issues.
