Newham Foodbank - The Trussell Trust

How newham foodbank works:

Food is donated by schools, churches, businesses, indivduals, or through supermarket collections. Food is sorted and stored at the warehouse Silvertown, then taken to food bank distribution centres, where it is made up into food parcels. There are currently four distribution centres plus three emergency food distrubution centres in Newham where vouchers can be redeemed:

Manor Park Christian Centre

454 High Street North, Manor Park, E12 6RH - Tuesday 10:00-12:00

Bonny Downs Church Hall

18 Darwell Close, Off Flanders Road, East Ham, E6 6BT - Wednesday 12:00-14:00

London Ghana SDA Church

City Chapel

St Mark's Community Centre, 218 Tollgate Road, Beckton, E6 5YA - Fridays 19:00-21:00 (Last client 20:30)

In an emergency crisis (when other centres are not open), please contact:

Royal Docks Learning and Activity Centre

Albert Road, North Woolwich, E16 2JB - Mon-Fri 9:30-14:00

Rehoboth Church

478 Barking Road, Plaistow, E13 8QB - Saturday 9:00-11:00

738 Barking Road, Upton Park, E13 9LB - Sunday 13:00-14:00

At the Newham Foodbank distrubution centres volunteers offer befriending, advocacy and signposting as well as food and refreshments. People can only collect food if they have a foodbank voucher issued within the same week.

Frontline professionals identify people in need or in crisis and help them to access a voucher. In Newham vouchers are distrubuted by a number of partners. Call and speak to a support agency for referrals such as Health Visitors, Chiildren's Centres, CAB staff, welfare officers, voluntary organisations, and certain schools for those in crisis or need.
